South African artiste Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, has tested positive for COVID-19.
A statement posted on his Twitter page Friday says the rapper decided to make his results public “in an attempt to create awareness around the virus and to caution citizens to be more careful in their daily interactions with others.”
AKA, 32, contracted the virus despite following all stringent hygiene measures — wearing face masks, frequent handwashing and rubbing alcohol-based sanitizers — stipulated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and S. A government.
He urged South Africans to strictly adhere to protocols announced and enforced by the government to deal with the spread of coronavirus.
The multi award-winning artiste will be “sharing his recovery journey with everyone whilst in self-isolation as he aims to be as transparent as possible about his journey with COVID-19,” the statement said.
