Ghanaians on social media are calling on their president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to comment on the protests in Nigeria by the youths demanding that a police unit is totally disbanded.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been accused of murder, extortion, and other abusive acts against young Nigerians.
In the past week, the Nigerian youths started a peaceful protest demanding that the SARS be dissolved.
In a live broadcast on Sunday, The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu announced the dissolution and said the personnel in that unit will be redeployed.
However, the youths were not satisfied and continued protesting.
The #EndSARS hashtag has been in the top trends on Ghanaian social media timelines especially on Twitter.
Most Ghanaians are condemning the police and also demanding President Akufo-Addo who doubles as the ECOWAS Chairperson to comment on the happenings in Nigeria.
Some argue that if ECOWAS heads of states can comment on happenings in Mali and even further sanction them, then they must say something on the protest in Nigeria.
